How much does a stair lift cost?

The cost of a stair lift depends on your staircase and the type of stair lift you need. Because we are a manufacturer, we are able to provide our customers with the best possible price, guaranteed! If you find a lower price, let us know and we’ll not only match their price, we’ll give you an additional 10% savings!

There are a couple options when it comes to getting an estimate on your stair lift. You can contact one of our Mobility Specialists directly by giving us a call, or you can fill out the form on our website. Upon contact, we will ask you questions regarding your specific needs and stair case to help find the best stair lift option and as long as we have the measurements we need we can provide you an accurate quote over the phone, including all options, installation and shipping.

How does a stair lift work?

All of our lifts are easy to use and offer a smooth and comfortable ride to keep you safe on the stairs in your home. Our stair lifts can be moved up or down the stairs by a toggle on the arm of the chair or by remote control.

Are AmeriGlide stair lifts safe?

Your safety is our number one priority, That’s why all AmeriGlide stair lifts come standard with safety features and comply with standards and codes established by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Intertek (ETL), and the Underwriters Laboratories (UL).

Standard safety features included with every AmeriGlide stair lift:

  • Footrest safety sensor to stop the stair lift should it strike anything on the stairway.
  • Swivel safety switch to insure that the stair lift seat is in the proper position before lifting.
  • Safety belt attached to seat for occupant safety. Cable tension safe guards insure that the lift will stop if the cable loses tension.
  • Limit switches shut the stair lift off in the same place at the top and bottom of stairs automatically.
  • Pressure controls make sure that the stair lift stops motion as soon as the controls are released.

Will a stair lift fit on my staircase?

Just like staircases, our stair lifts come in all different shapes and sizes and can be customized to your stairs’ dimensions. We offer a variety of stair lifts for inside and outside your home. Whether you need a straight or curved stair lift, we have the option for you! Each of the products we offer vary slightly in design, and therefore it is important to get accurate staircase measurements to explore all options.

How easy is a stair lift to install?

Most of our stair lifts are designed for homeowner installation. We provide thorough installation videos that you can easily follow along with. It normally takes 1-3 hours for your first stair lift installation.

If you prefer, we also have a team of expert installers that are available to install the stair lift for you.

What type of warranty do AmeriGlide stair lifts come with?

New AmeriGlide Stair Lifts come with a 2 year parts warranty and a 5 year warranty on the drive train. Factory Reconditioned AmeriGlide Stair Lifts come with a 1 year parts warranty and a 3 year warranty on the drivetrain. Used AmeriGlide Stair Lifts come with a 1 year parts only warranty. We are so confident of the quality of these stair lifts that we provide the best warranties in the industry!

How much weight is the stair lift capable of carrying?

Most AmeriGlide stair lifts have a lifting capacity of 300lbs. We offer Heavy Duty (HD) stair lifts that have a 500lbs weight capacity. 

What if there is a doorway in the middle of my staircase?

Having a doorway at the top or bottom of the stairs isn’t a problem. We offer the option of adding on a hinged rail that attaches at the bottom or top of the staircase, depending on where your doorway is. The hinged rail can fold up when not in use, making room to walk in and out of the doorway.

How much does it cost to maintain a stair lift and have it serviced?

Our stair lifts need very little maintenance! Just a light greasing of the track every 6 months to keep your stair lift running smoothly.

Can disabled U.S. Veterans receive assistance from the government towards the purchase of a stair lift?

In many cases, yes. The Department of Veterans Affairs does offer cash grants to some disabled veterans for motility devices. For more information on this, click here for more information.

Can I finance my stair lift from AmeriGlide?

Yes. We provide easy and affordable financing through our partner, Bread ®, so you can pay for your purchase over time.*

Veterans may be eligible for financing or reimbursement through their local VA. Your local Area Agency on Aging and the Federal Housing Administration can be of help, as well.
