Built for Safety. Every detail of our Rubex electric powered stairlift is designed with your safety in mind. We build safety sensors into the footrest, include a locking mechanism in the seat belt, and give the motor instant reversing capability. With automatic limits at each end of the track, standard mechanical and electrical slack cable safety devices, and a fail-safe mechanism that prevents operation until the seat is in the correct position, this stairlift is one of the safest on the market today. It is ETL listed and meets ASME A17.1 and A18 safety standards for public and private use. We also include call stations for both top and bottom landings, which can be mounted to the wall or to the floor. Read more about AmeriGlide stair lift safety standards.

Easy "Homeowner" Installation. Unbelievably, the AmeriGlide Rubex electric powered stair lift simply plugs into the nearest outlet. No special wiring is needed! You can install it on either the right-hand or left-hand side of your staircase; you can even switch it from side to side without any additional parts.

Sleek Design Compliments Any Decor. The AmeriGlide Rubex electric powered stair lift is available in an attractive almond finish with your choice of vinyl seat color. When not in use, you can easily fold up the padded seat and flip up the footrest and your stair lift only takes up 14 inches of space. It's so compact, other people in your household always have full use of the stairs.

AmeriGlide Installation

A Little About Myself

Newly retired with unexpected surgeries which limited mobility in climbing stairs

Pros

Only unit I found where the manufacture "supports" self-installation and DOES NOT REQUIRE "Expensive" installation by a local dealer, (e.g. like Acorn). Unit was a tailored fit to our stairs, installed in 3-hours, works like a dream, enabled us to stay in our 2-story home during a 6-month surgical recovery.

Cons

None... works like a dream, price was right, installed in 3-hours.

Service & Delivery

Thanks very much to the excellent assistance from Taylor ******** who took my order and rushed the unit out ASAP... It arrived in a week and was just in time to assist with a 6-month surgical recovery.
AmeriGlide lifts are the BEST... am recommending them to all our relatives, friends and neighbors.
AmeriGlide replies:
Thanks John! Happy to read you did your research on self-installation. Please let Taylor know if you need anything and we wish you a quick and easy recovery.

A Little About Myself

Retired Mechanic

Pros

Cons

I've owned my unit now for 30 months and have written twice before regarding my satisfaction with the unit. This note is to say that I have encountered a lot of trouble using lithium grease (recommended in the manual) to lubricate the inside sides of the rails which encounter a lot of horizontal friction from the rollers. Lithium grease tends to dry out quickly and create hard clumps of grease and lint, and it is a mess to clean on a regular basis. On the advice of a friend I tried a spray can of "TRI-FLOW" lubricant which has a Teflon base (PTFE), a common use is for motorcycle chains because it clings to the surfaces and doesn't make a mess. And it takes very little, sprayed on the inside sides of the roller tracks through the small spray tube and spread evenly with a cloth wipe. No clumps of grease and "smooth as a whistle". I suspect other brands of chain lube with PTFE may do as well. "Tri-Flow" is the most expensive, $12 per 6oz can but expect it will last a couple years used monthly. Rule of thumb; too little is better than too much.

A Little About Myself

Pros

So easy to use!!!

Cons

I was a little disappointed with how much of the stair was left, but with the ease of use it was worth it.
From the sales representative to the installer, this company was great to work with.

great service and fast Delivery

should make it clear to consumer you can't use it alone,
AmeriGlide replies:
Thanks for your review Vinny. There is a switch on the arm of the chair that controls the stair lift, so users can use the lift on their own.

Pros

AAA+

Cons

Service & Delivery

AAA+
I purchased my unit a year ago and wrote a very positive report, and am writing again to mention that I too had some problems with my unit similar to a gentleman from Aitkin Minnesota. I called the technical service line (different from the customer service number) and received quick attention to the problems, good advice, and a shipment of several new parts at no charge within 10 days of my call. Because I am a retired professional mechanic I place equal value of factory support as the quality of my original purchase. If you have a problem of some sort don't hesitate to call but you should know that like any other mechanical device the stair lift does require conscientious maintenance. After owning the unit for a year and at least 1000 trips up and down I am very pleased with the unit, and my decision not to purchase a unit run by a battery in case of an electrical outage. The added electronics, cost and weight for such a rare need would have been a poor investment for me.

Not for standard steps;width of Steps Matter
Feb 10, 2015 1:25 PM

A Little About Myself

Homeowner for 30+years; second stairlift purchased

Pros

A product for homes with steps wider than 50inches.

Cons

Well the product is a good product the sales person did a poor job is assessing which product I would need. It should be standard practice for the sales person to advise customers if their stairway is standard size than get a slimmer model with vertical track, rather than railroad track.

Service & Delivery

Actually the delivery was put right outside the garage door. Delivered as close as he could get it to the house.
The bottom line is, it does matter it this unit is installed on the hand rail side of the steps, and expecially when the steps are standard size width of "36 inches". So just so all know the picture of the Rubex above shows a railroad track, if you have standard size steps you want that track on its side. Discussion: I purchased the Rubex AC/DC model without extra battery for my home for when mom visits and purchased the Bruno model for my mom's house. The Bruno model is slimmer, the track fits on its side and takes up less space in the stairwell, whereas the track for the Rubex is like a railroad track, takes up half the size of the narrow steps and you can barely walk up the steps. Additionally you cannot install the Rubex model on the side of the steps where the bannister is because the back seat will rub the banister and incrementally bleed the seat cover in the back off. The standard width size of most home steps is 36 inches wide, same as most doors, if a wheelchair the standard width is 44 inches. Therefore when you consider the handrail that protrudes from the wall outwardly at least two - three inches, there is no way you can install the Rubex (and maybe other models) as discussed in the Installation Guide on page 7, or as demonstrated in the You Tube videos. These two information presentations need to be succinct and they are not when giving advice on how much to measure from the wall to the track unit. Moreover if you look at the installation demonstration in the You Tube video it is for steps that appear to be wider than 36 inches.
