AmeriGlide scooter and wheelchair lifts are top quality and competitively priced. Free nationwide delivery and installation services are available. We offer many ways to find the lift that will work for your vehicle and for your wheelchair or scooter. But we understand that choosing a wheelchair lift can be a daunting task, especially if you've never done it before.

If you have any questions at all, please contact one of our lift experts at 1-800-988-4293.

To help you get your search started we've organized our lifts into the following groups:

Scooter Lifts: These lifts can be used to transport electric scooter. If the name of the lift includes the words "Universal" then it can be used to transport both power chairs and scooters. Otherwise, the lifts are specifically designed to carry only electric scooters.

Power Wheelchair Lifts: These lifts can be used to transport power (electric) wheelchairs. Those lifts that have been noted as "Universal," will work with a mobility scooter or an electric wheelchair, but otherwise, they will only work with a Power Chair.

Manual Wheelchair Lifts: These lifts can be used to transport folding manual wheelchairs on the outside of your vehicle. We offer both motorized lifts and manually operated lifts. These wheelchair lifts can be installed on nearly any vehicle because they are compatible with ball mounts and Class I, II, and III hitches. They cannot be used to transport power wheelchairs or electric scooters however.

External Scooter and Wheelchair Lifts: External wheelchair and scooter lifts are designed to mount to the rear end of your vehicle using the trailer hitch. Your wheelchair or scooter will be securely transported on the outside of the vehicle. This is a good choice if you don't have enough room inside your vehicle for storage or if you simply want to save the space in your vehicle for other uses. Because your wheelchair or scooter will be riding on the outside of your vehicle, we offer covers for protection from the elements. They can be purchased when you configure your lift.

Internal Scooter and Wheelchair Lifts:
Internal wheelchair and scooter lifts are designed to lift and store your wheelchair or scooter inside your vehicle for transportation. The majority of internal lifts are installed inside your vehicle although we offer a limited selection of internal wheelchair lifts that attach to your vehicle's trailer hitch. This method offers the most secure method of transportation and the most protection from the elements. It's a great choice if you have the room inside your vehicle. Lifting your wheelchair or scooter inside your vehicle can be more time consuming when compared to using an external lift, however all the internal lifts we offer are quite hassle-free. We even offer "Drive-Thru" internal wheelchair lifts that have a platform that extends from inside your vehicle to the outside of the vehicle. Simply drive onto the platform and press a button to load it inside your vehicle.

Lifts by Hitch Class:
Do you know what kind of hitch your vehicle has? We've also categorized our lifts by the kind of hitch they can be attached to. The majority of these lifts are external lifts, however, we do offer a limited selection of lifts that attach to your vehicle's hitch but lift and store your wheelchair or scooter inside your vehicle. Please remember that the weight capacity (tongue weight) of your vehicle's hitch is different than a lift's "lifting capacity."

  • Lifts for Class I Hitches: 200 pound capacity. This means that the weight of the lift plus the weight of the wheelchair or scooter must be less than 200 lbs.
  • Lifts for Class II Hitches: 350 pound capacity. This means that the weight of the lift plus the weight of the wheelchair or scooter must be less than 350 lbs.
  • Lifts for Class III Hitches: 500 pound capacity. This means that the weight of the lift plus the weight of the wheelchair or scooter must be less than 500 lbs.

Manually Operated Wheelchair Lifts:
These scooter and wheelchair lifts are manually operated. Manually operated lifts do not have motors and do not need to be connected to your car's battery. This makes installing the lifts easier. Although manually operated wheelchair lifts do not have motors, they are not difficult to use. They all use pivoting platforms which require only a small amount of force to lift even the largest power chairs and scooters. And because they don't have motors they are very economically priced. Currently all of our manually operated lifts are also external lifts.

Finally, do you want to learn more about trailer hitch weight capacities or wheelchair and scooter lift lifting capacities? Is so, we have information on Wheelchair and Scooter Lifts - Weight & Lifting Capacities.
