A Little About Myself

Cancer in the spine, hips, shoulders, etc. 61 yrs old, currently in home hospice

Pros

Made the entirety of the home accessible. Easy installation. I purchased a reconditioned chairlift...I looks as good as new and still has a warranty. Customer Service—-they provide you with information that is spot on, and then follow up on any questions in a timely fashion. Everything is known up front and there is no BS, they do what they say they will.

Cons

Provide a CD of the installation...the you tube video is ok but not everyone at my age has internet

Service & Delivery

As promised, I had to have installers lined up so it was a fantastic relief to have it delivered when they said it would be,l. I called them to verify and they assured me of the date/time and were spot on

Pros

After installation unit works perfectly

Cons

Original unit came with a bad battery, when I received new battery I discovered the unit was faulty and had to be replaced. Took a total of three weeks to finally get stairlift in service

Service & Delivery

Good!!
Buford and Eddie were pleasant to work with and very knowledgeable. Only comment I would have is for units to be more closely inspected before shipment.

A Little About Myself

Recently retired from NYC Subway-Full time spousal caregiver

Pros

Again, great stair lift for the price.

Cons

They send the lift remotes with the CHEAPEST batteries. They're DEAD when you get them.

Service & Delivery

Delivery was fast. No back orders this time. Since this was my second installation, it went easier and faster. no parts missing. The You Tube video is almost exactly how it's installed.
NO real issues on the installation. This was my second stair lift that I ordered. I again ordered from Alex Dilllon. I needed this one by a certain time. I told Alex when I needed it by. It was delivered a few days early.

A good chair that works as intended...
Jun 2, 2017 3:17 PM

A Little About Myself

Retired submariner, retired IT architect, full-time caregiver

Pros

The chair functions as intended, looks attractive, and was affordably priced. No regrets on the purchase. I bought it because my wife has Alzheimer's, and we've reached the point where climbing the steps was becoming difficult. She cannot use it without me, but I am always here anyway to pilot for her.

Cons

The cheap seatbelt buckle is always jamming as I buckle it around my spouse. The manufacturer needs to spend a couple more bucks per chair on a better buckle system. And 2-inch Phillips-head screws to anchor the rail is a non-starter. Even after drilling the biggest pilot hole I dared, the heads strip too easily trying to drive them through forty-year-old oak. I substituted equivalent hex-head screws instead. They look good and install easily with a socket wrench.

Service & Delivery

Arrived intact. Kept and stored the boxes in the event I find myself reselling the chair in a few years under the buy-back program.
With my skills, installation should have taken me about six hours. In fact, it took me twelve hours, with a hardware run for better anchor screws in the middle. The instructions have a couple of notable gaps and don't take one glaring problem into account: after you assemble the entire rail, measure, align, and set up the feet to screw them into the stairs, you find that the anchor pads don't extend far enough from the rail to allow drilling and screwing perpendicular anchor screws. Your only option then is to mark the holes, move the assembly, drill the holes, realign the assembly, set the end anchors, and then individually set the middle anchors. A better option in hindsight would have been to include an 8-inch drill-bit with the installation tools, or at least add it to the "list of tools required" so I could have bought it during the anchor screw run. I chose a left-side chair for electrical outlet reasons, but that is also the handrail side. Since I need to use the handrail while piloting the chair for my wife, I could not remove it. And I could find no guidance on how far out I had to set the chair rail in order for the seat back to clear the handrail. So I guessed, and ended up about three inches farther from the wall than I needed to be. Not a big deal, but correcting the instructions to add the actual seat back inset would valuable to other installers with a similar dilemma. With the chair installed and operating, the first couple of runs were trouble-free. But then when it reached the upper charging point, it refused to leave it again unless I used the emergency hand wind to move it off the charging point. I called Tech Support and was told to check the three sensor buttons to confirm they were in place, and if so, the issue was probably a bad upper limit switch. Yes, the sensor buttons are in place. But rather than rip into the unit to replace the limit switch, I opted to remove the unnecessary upper charging point, and simply run the chair back down the rail to charge it. We make only two trips per day---one down in the morning and one up at night---so we are not accruing any significant mileage. And this allows me to stop the chair in a better position at the rail top for her to board it. But all things considered, this is still a good chair. I hope we will wear it out.

A Little About Myself

Pros

Price is excellent and being able to self-install is good. Rides smooth. Shipped quickly. Discussion with representative was good, answered all questions.

Cons

Install manual is terrible! Some of the photos were NOT clear; several steps were presented out of sequence which caused us to have to go back and redo the steps. We had a lot of problems re attaching the drive unit covers.

Service & Delivery

No problems with delivery, parts were well packaged. We ordered two right hand units, packing slip for one unit said left hand, the other slip said right hand. The space on the slip for two sets of initials, the one preparing the order and for the one who double checks, showed the same initials thus we can only assume there was no double check or the LH mark would have been changed to RH.
Because the install manual was so difficult to use, it took us about 14 hours to install the first unit. Having had the experience, it took us about 4 hours to install the second. Again, the biggest problem is the poor to weak install manual.
