{"id":1211,"date":"2024-03-15T15:02:07","date_gmt":"2024-03-15T15:02:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ameriglide.com\/blog\/?p=1211"},"modified":"2024-03-15T15:08:11","modified_gmt":"2024-03-15T15:08:11","slug":"diabetic-friendly-recipe-bangers-and-mash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ameriglide.com\/blog\/diabetic-friendly-recipe-bangers-and-mash\/","title":{"rendered":"Diabetic-Friendly Recipe: Bangers and Mash"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Prep Time: <\/strong>15 minutes<br><strong>Cook Time:<\/strong> 45 minutes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-873a533bed5a07dae92ec06959ce8221\" style=\"color:#055097\"><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Non-stick cooking spray<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2lbs Sweet potatoes (washed and dried)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whole wheat bread (crusts removed)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/4 cup Egg substitute of choice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>20oz of 93% Lean ground beef<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/2 tsp Ground thyme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/2 tsp Ground sage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp Garlic powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/4 tsp Cayenne pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3\/4 tsp Salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/2 tsp Black pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tbsp Olive oil<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-347777aa9ae173ee9aa6b55fee20c38e\" style=\"color:#055097\"><strong>Instructions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Coat a baking sheet with cooking spray.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Line the sweet potatoes on the baking sheet and let them bake for 45 minutes. Once you can pierce a fork into them, they&#8217;re done. Set aside to cool slightly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While the sweet potatoes are cooling, combine the whole wheat bread and egg. Mix well until the bread softens and a paste forms. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stir in the ground turkey, thyme, sage, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, 1\/2 tsp of the salt, and 1\/4 tsp of the black pepper into the paste.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Divide the mixture into 6 equal sized patties and saut\u00e9 in a large non-stick pan coated with cooking spray for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until the center of the patty reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the sweet potatoes are done cooling, peel the skins off and add them to a bowl with 1 tbsp olive oil, the remaining 1\/4 tsp salt, and the remaining 1\/4 tsp pepper.
