Built for Safety. Every detail of our Rubex electric powered stairlift is designed with your safety in mind. We build safety sensors into the footrest, include a locking mechanism in the seat belt, and give the motor instant reversing capability. With automatic limits at each end of the track, standard mechanical and electrical slack cable safety devices, and a fail-safe mechanism that prevents operation until the seat is in the correct position, this stairlift is one of the safest on the market today. It is ETL listed and meets ASME A17.1 and A18 safety standards for public and private use. We also include call stations for both top and bottom landings, which can be mounted to the wall or to the floor. Read more about AmeriGlide stair lift safety standards.

Easy "Homeowner" Installation. Unbelievably, the AmeriGlide Rubex electric powered stair lift simply plugs into the nearest outlet. No special wiring is needed! You can install it on either the right-hand or left-hand side of your staircase; you can even switch it from side to side without any additional parts.

Sleek Design Compliments Any Decor. The AmeriGlide Rubex electric powered stair lift is available in an attractive almond finish with your choice of vinyl seat color. When not in use, you can easily fold up the padded seat and flip up the footrest and your stair lift only takes up 14 inches of space. It's so compact, other people in your household always have full use of the stairs.

The main thing I wish to point out is: Make sure when installing your stairlift that you anchor it down so the brackets do not come loose. This is for safety. Also, make sure you install at the right angle to steps or the chair will not be level even after the adjustment provided is adjusted. (The chair can be adjusted regarding the angle against the angle of the slide by unloosing the 2 bolts/nuts on the side of the housing under the front pf the chair seat) You might check the angle of the chair in relation to the slide against the angle of the steps from a level position, if installed on a porch (front or rear entrance). Finally, if you follow the directions very closely, you will not have any problems and if you do have problems, call the main office in Raleigh, NC. It may become necessary to get further instructions, first hand. Hope this will help any buyer of this chair lift. - FDP, California

The installation instructions were very good. After installation, the upper cam switch was not adjusted properly, causing the unit to be disabled. I mounted the operating switch for the unit under the right arm rest. I did not care for the switch to be loose, sometimes falling down below the seat.

The adjustable black plastic stop for the top of the track to automatically stop the chair would loosen itself, so my installer simply drilled a hole and screwed it in place.
I like how quiet it is, and how safe it feels to ride in too.

This product could not have come at a better time. My mom and dad were having trouble climbing the stairs from the basement to the first floor of their ranch home. Their laundry facilities were in the basement so the choices were to invest in a chair lift or lose a bedroom by hiring a plumber to put the laundry equipment upstairs. The installation of a lift chair was an obvious choice. We performed the installation ourselves. It wasn't hard, however, it did take about 5 hours. The chair has given my parents their independence they need to accomplish their daily tasks. Thanks so much!

Pros

Cons
Beneficial in getting packages to living level of house. So easy to use that my 3 year-old grandson has mastered the use of the unit and I feel confident he is safe when he "goes for a ride on grandpa's chair." On the negative side, I felt the wiring routes and cabling could have been placed, more shielded, or conduitized for better protection. I had a minor wiring problem with a pinched and rubbed through abrasion cut on the control cable that was routed in the tracking channel. Some tape and heat shrink repaired the break to restore operation.

Live second floor. Elderly. Stroke survivor.
Pros
Safe, Handy pkg carrier, Safe speed, Sturdy
Cons
Keys too small. The Upholstery is tacky.
Very pleased. The stair lift feels safe to use. Very good speed. Footrest folds up to make room on stairs when needed. Relatively easy upkeep. However, keys far too small for elderly who have problems seeing and handling small objects and fitting them into keyholes. I would suggest a large thingummy be added to key to make it easier to handle. Also, upholstery does not look sturdy enough and in some places looks it badly installed.
