Is getting in and out of the bathtub too difficult or dangerous for you? Do you need to adapt an existing bath tub to accommodate a mobility impairment - perhaps even a wheelchair user? AmeriGlide has you covered! The AmeriGlide Bathtub Roll-In Conversion Kit changes your existing bath tub into a safety shower that can be used by both ambulatory users and wheelchair users. Our installers simply cut an opening into the front of your existing bathtub (you choose the size of the gap, from 24 to 32 inches), and replace the gap with a skid-free sloped threshold that meets ADA guidelines for rise and run, clearing elevations up to 4 inches. The new threshold features an inward slope to prevent slip hazards and leaks, and this conversion process actually leaves you with 30% more floor space if you own an average-sized bathtub! Users can then shuffle their feet over the threshold to gain entry to the converted shower, or a wheelchair user can roll a waterproof shower chair directly over the threshold and into the shower area! Sculpted end-cap pieces are then custom-cut and fitted to either side of the threshold ramp where the tub wall is cut away to create a beautiful finished look on your tub conversion.
The AmeriGlide Shower Roll-In Conversion Kit takes about 2 hours to install, and is usable after 24 hours have passed. Please note that the retail price of this kit includes the cost of installation - currently, we do not offer DIY versions of the AmeriGlide Bathtub Roll-In Conversion Kit, so our installers will need to come to your home to perform the necessary alterations. This conversion kit is compatible with any kind of tub shell - even steel, cast iron, and fiberglass! We can also perform conversions on garden tubs and jacuzzi tubs! NOTE: Installing this kit on a cast-iron tub will incur a $75.00 upcharge.

| Pros |
If you only have a bath tub and need a wheelchair-accessible shower, this is a very affordable alternative to a full remodeling job and can save you thousands of dollars.
|
| Cons |
If you ever wish to restore your bathroom to its original configuration, you will have to buy a new tub shell, which costs about $200.00.

|
This kit can be installed quickly and is usable within a day after the work is completed. It's a really great solution for the cost-conscious shopper who needs a wheelchair-accessible shower in their home.

This product has been a blessing to us ever since my 95 year-old mother-in-law moved in with us. She feels very secure getting in and out of the shower now. I also am happy about not having to rip out our entire bathtub. This was put in in a matter of hours and I couldn't have asked for nicer people to deal with. Go for it.
